Police have named the man killed in a car crash just south of Whangarei on Tuesday.
He was Rae John Adams of Whangarei.
The 45-year-old was heading north on State Highway One at about 7.15am when it is thought his vehicle lost control and drifted across the centre line.
Mr
Adams' car collided with a fully laden logging truck. He was the sole occupant.
Emergency services were called to the site, on Smeatons Hill, but Mr Adams died at the scene.
