A woman badly burned in a Christchurch house fire last week has died.
The woman, in her late 30s, was critically injured during the house blaze in Aldwins Rd, Linwood, last Tuesday.
On Wednesday she was transferred to a specialist burns unit at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland.
However, she passed away today.
An autopsy is due to be completed this afternoon.
Another woman in her 20s was also at home at the time of the blaze. She was also hospitalised but has since been discharged.
Police have spoken to other occupants and neighbours of the burned property in Linwood as they investigate what happened.
"Indications are that the fire was contained within one room in the property," Detective Sergeant Dave Parker.
"As a result of an ongoing investigation into the incident the death is not being treated as suspicious.
"The death has been referred to the Coroner but no further details will be released until the formal identification process has been completed."
The victim's family are being supported by their friends, family, police and Victim Support.
