A Rotorua policeman who admitted assaulting a female has failed in his bid to keep his name secret.
Constable Russell Lowe, 49, appeared in the Rotorua District Court today where he pleaded guilty to a charge of male assaults female.
The court heard his offending stemmed from an incident that occurred when he was "acting in the line of duty".
Lowe's lawyer, Fraser Wood, said his client disagreed with the summary of facts relating to the charge. The case has been adjourned until April 27 for a disputed facts hearing date to be set.
Mr Wood said it could take from one to two days.
