A Warkworth man has admitted killing a woman two days before Christmas.
In the High Court at Auckland today, Gene Hepana pleaded guilty to murdering Jasmine Cooper at her Te Hana home on December 23.
Hepana, 40, who was known to Ms Cooper, can be named for the first time after suppression was lifted.
It was imposed when Hepana appeared briefly in the North Shore District Court on Christmas Eve.
He was remanded in custody until sentencing next month.
Ms Cooper, 26, had reportedly texted her sister before she was killed saying someone was "creeping around'' her house, just north of Wellsford.
