A former Rimutaka Prison inmate, who is believed to have impersonated a doctor while stealing from Wellington Hospital, is due to appear in court this morning.
Pita Edwards was arrested yesterday in connection with a string of commercial burglaries at Victoria University and the hospital.
The 26-year-old was released from prison earlier this month.
Police say his alleged offending has affected the community for two weeks and has mainly been targeted against people going about their daily jobs which involve helping others.
He will be appearing in the Wellington District Court today on 20 charges relating to burglary and fraud.
