A man has been rushed to hospital after his ute rolled near the Ngaurunga Gorge, Wellington, smashing into a motorway barrier.
The 61-year-old sustained serious injuries in the crash, and was taken to Wellington Hospital after being cut out of the ute by fire-fighters.
Two other people suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
It is believed the driver lost control of the ute as he was driving down the gorge. The vehicle then rolled a number of times before hitting the barrier on the state highway, Wellington police shift inspector Chris Tate said.
The crash is not believed to have been weather related, he added.
