Firefighters find leak at Tip Top factory

The Tip Top Factory in Mt Wellington.

Auckland firefighters have spent almost two hours at the Tip Top ice cream factory in Mt Wellington finding an ammonia leak, then clearing the fumes.

Four engines were sent to the plant around 2.30am after reports of a leak in the factory's laboratory area.

A Fire Service shift commander says the leak was small and the fumes easily ventilated.

No-one was hurt, and they finished the job around 4.30am.
