Police investigating the discovery of a body in Mt Wellington, Auckland over the weekend have arrested a teenager and charged him with assault.
A homicide inquiry was launched after the man's body was found on Hillside Road about 11.30pm on Sunday night.
A 17-year-old man will appear in the Manukau District Court today.
Detective Inspector Dave Lynch said further charges are likely, pending results of a post-mortem examination.
Police believe other people were involved in the incident and are appealing to anyone with knowledge of the case to come forward.
The victim is yet to be identified and police are keen to hear from anyone who may know the man.
He is described as a Maori/Polynesian, aged in his 20s or 30s, of average build and height with short black hair. He was wearing blue jeans held up with a piece of white electrical cable and a green jumper/sweatshirt.
