A man and woman were rescued from their boat after it started taking on water in Wellington Harbour this afternoon.
The boaties sent the Mayday call at about 3pm which was answered by a number of private vessels in the area as well as the Police launch and the Wellington Coastguard.
Lady Elizabeth (the ex police launch) was and another private vessel were on the scene, between Seaview and Somes Island, with in minutes of the Mayday call.
Both the people onboard the boat were wearing life jackets and were assisted and removed from the water by a local boatie.
Lady Elizabeth attached a line to the submerged vessel before transferring it to the police launch Lady Elizabeth 4.
The vessel was taken under tow and refloated by maritime police crew. It was then recovered to Seaview boat ramp.
Both occupants of the boat were shaken but did not require medical assistance. They were reunited with their boat at the Seaview boat ramp.
