A fleeing driver received minor injuries when his stolen car crashed after a police pursuit in Auckland this afternoon.
Police tried to stop a stolen Subaru Legacy on Te Rakau Drive just after 2pm.
The car stopped briefly to let off some passengers and then fled - turning into Te Irirangi Drive and driving at high speed, a police statement said.
A pursuit was abandoned after officers ruled the car was travelling too fast, it said.
"The car then hit a truck and was spiked after that. It drove into the grass verge and hit a small tree."
The driver, who had minor injures, was arrested soon after the crash.
Police are still looking for two other passengers who "ran off". No one else was injured in the incident.
