A bitter cold front from Antarctica will bring freezing weather and strong winds this weekend. The front will move up the country, possibly causing snow to fall to sea level in Southland and Otago tomorrow morning, Canterbury in the afternoon, and Marlborough in the evening, says MetService forecaster Daniel Corbett.
The Desert Road, the Rimutaka Hill Road north of Wellington and the Napier-Taupo Road are at risk of snow on Monday.
