The man, known as CJ, was at the party on County Rd in Torbay when he was stabbed about 9pm.
Detective Sergeant Scott Armstrong said a 24-year-old North Shore man was arrested and appeared in the North Shore District Court yesterday morning.
He was charged with wounding with intent to cause greivous bodily harm.

Bottles were seen strewn across the grass outside the house yesterday. A neighbour, who declined to be named, said a woman, her adult son and a small child, lived at the house.
