Cases of child abuse could increase if funding for essential co-ordination services is reallocated, an advocacy group says.

Family violence prevention funding worth $11.5 million is likely to be reallocated to the Whanau Ora programme, claims National Network of Stopping Violence Services advocate Brian Gardner.

Mr Gardner said he understood from "reliable sources within Government" that the reallocation would happen, but would not reveal his sources.
