The cost of Cyclone Wilma which hit New Zealand late last month continues to grow.

State Highway 25 in the Coromandel Peninsula was extensively damaged in 81 separate locations.

The NZ Transport Agency has announced it will cost around $5.5 million to repair.

It says State Highway 25 is now reopened to two way traffic.

Close to 40,000 cubic metres of earth has been removed by contractors from the highway.
