At least 15 people were ferried to hospital after a four-vehicle pile-up in Queenstown yesterday.
Police said that the crash on the Kingston-Queenstown road was triggered by a campervan attempting to turn into a rest stop about 6pm.
The following vehicles, including a privately-owned bus with 13 tourists on board, were forced to brake sharply resulting in a nose-to-tail collision.
The tourists and several occupants of another vehicle were taken to Lakes District Hospital, but any injuries caused by the crash were thought to be minor.
Police said it was too early to say if any charges would be laid.
