Another powerful high is about to settle over the country - one that could come close to breaking records.
WeatherWatch says the high is building south east of Dunedin, and will be stronger than the one recorded a fortnight ago.
The central air pressure is predicted to be around 1,046 hectopascals - a smidgen above the highest air pressure ever recorded in New Zealand, in Wellington set in 1889.
However, because it will remain just offshore it will be away from weather recording equipment.
