Gisborne police are still investigating the death of a 29-year-old man.
A 28-year-old woman has been charged with murder, after the man's body was found at a house in Stout Street yesterday.
An ambulance crew worked on Douglas Leslie Tupaea when they were called to the house, but could not revive him.
His body has been taken to Auckland for a post-mortem to be carried out.
It is believed he was stabbed in the chest.
Police say Mr Tupaea and the woman who has been charged were known to each other.
She has been remanded in custody and will be appearing in the Gisborne District Court tomorrow.
