A Te Anau holiday park is the winner of the country's top hospitality award, with finalists chosen from guest feedback and mystery shopping results.

Te Anau Top 10 Holiday Park was awarded the 2009 AA Spirit of Hospitality Award at the Holiday Parks Conference in Blenheim last night.

AA Tourism general manager Peter Blackwell said the Te Anau Top 10 was a familiar finalist for the award, given for excellence in hospitality.

Waihi Beach Top 10 Holiday Park, another previous finalist, was named runner up.

Mr Blackwell said staying at a holiday park was "a real Kiwi experience and a must-do for both international and domestic visitors".

The quality of service from hosts made the experience more memorable and enjoyable, he said.
