A driving range and a cafe have been destroyed by a fire at a golf course in Burwood, northeast of Christchurch today.
The fire service was called to the blaze at the Ascot Golf Course just after 3am.
Fire crews were still at the scene dampening down hotspots, assistant Area Commander Dave Burford told NZPA.
Authorities would be at the golf course this morning to try to discover a cause for the fire, he said.
Six appliances and 30 firefighters were called to fight the blaze, and they were able to save the clubhouse and equipment shed.
Nobody was injured in the fire, Mr Burford said.
