Wildlife sanctuary staff following a radio-transmitter signal in Karori were surprised when it led to a large eel. Conservation manager Raewyn Empson said it was suspected the eel had eaten a highly endangered weta.
"At $350 a pop, the transmitters make this a very expensive snack."
