KEY POINTS:
Bridgecorp founder Rod Petricevic has been found liable for more than $600,000 after a court ruling found that Bridgecorp paid his personal income tax in 2006.
In May, Bridgecorp Management Services, a related entity of the company now in the hands of receivers, took action against Mr Petricevic through a summary judgment, a claim against the debtor usually taken when it is believed there is no reasonable defence against it.
Lawyers for the receivers said Bridgecorp had paid Mr Petricevic's tax on his million-dollar income since 2006.
Following a hearing last Thursday, Associate Judge Robinson ruled in a judgment handed down this afternoon that Bridgecorp was entitled to summary judgment against Mr Petricevic for $576,100, plus interest of $75,761, and legal costs.
Receivers Colin McCloy and John Waller said they were pleased with the judgment.
"This is the first court proceeding taken by the Bridgecorp receivers in respect of numerous investigative matters being analysed," Mr McCloy said.
"Today's judgment is a step towards resolving these matters and it is pleasing to see such a swift result."
Further proceedings on other matters were before the court, and other actions were likely, he said.
In another case, Mr Petricevic is claiming the receivers owe him a golden handshake worth more than $1 million, including redundancy payments, holiday pay, repayments on his vehicle, and bonuses.
Bridgecorp collapsed last July owing almost $460 million to 14,500 debenture investors.
