A man being sought in relation to alleged family violence has caused concern with his references to using plastic explosives and firearms, police on Auckland's North Shore said today.
Although Colin Carl Venimore, 35, had made the references, it was not known if he had access to such weapons.
Inspector Les Paterson said Venimore had been hiding somewhere in the North Island for the past two weeks and might have been in the Wellington area a few days ago.
He had been in contact with police by phone and there were concerns that he might be dangerous and that his state of mind was deteriorating.
Venimore is wanted on arrest warrants in relation to alleged incidents of family violence.
Police also wanted to interview him on other matters.
Mr Paterson said police did not know what vehicle Venimore was travelling in.
He said any members of the public with information should call their nearest police station, adding that Venimore should not be approached.
