Poverty Bay

Tough recent times at Mahia Golf Club have strengthened the resilience and determination of its members.

Lee Steel’s performance at the Emerre and Hathaway Poverty Bay Women’s Open this week is testament to that.

Steel competed in the 36-hole Stableford section of the two-day tournament, which also featured five divisions of matchplay and an 18-hole competition played over two nines on each day.

Steel won the Midway Plate division 1 Stableford with a whopping haul of 84 points – 45 of those in her 88-23-65 on Monday.
