A New Zealand children's book has been nominated for an Italian literary award, the Grinzane Junior Award.
Milly, Molly and Alf was written by Gisborne author Gill Pittar and tells the story of an orphaned refugee who triumphs over adversity.
The book is sold in 109 countries and
appears in 30 different languages.
Pittar is one of four finalists for $9769, award and will fly to Turin next week, where a popular-vote will decide the winner.
