Fourth generation keeps up high standards
Subaru's fourth-generation All-Wheel-Drive Forester has gone on sale in Japan with an impressive list of new features that build on its long-established reputation for value, safety, great engineering and fun driving.
Due to debut in New Zealand early in 2013, the new Forester's features include a revised four-wheel-drive system -X-Mode - on auto models, offering confidence and control on difficult terrain, for even better rough-road performance.
Auto Stop Start, a major contributor to improved fuel economy, will be fitted to all normally aspirated petrol Foresters.
Subaru's award-winning EyeSight driver-assist safety technology will be offered on top models. SI-Drive, which matches performance to driving style, will also be available on some models, offering three different driving modes for better fuel consumption and performance.
The latest-generation Boxer engines, which were introduced for the 2012 model year, have more significant improvements in fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
The new-generation Lineartronic Continuously Variable transmission will feature on all auto Foresters and a six-speed manual gearbox is being introduced to the entry-level version.
There is refined cabin comfort with soft-touch surfaces and greater field of vision for added safety. A multi-function display provides a wealth of information at the driver's fingertips.
The rear door has auto opening and closing, a first for Subaru.

The new Forester will draw on the theme of smarter, safer, further - smarter, thanks to a wide array of new technology; safer, in line with Subaru's long-term commitment to occupant protection; and further, thanks to a wide range of engine and transmission efficiencies and its ability to traverse all roads.
