Maariri Pakuria is due to give birth on June 29th and is currently stuck in emergency motel housing as Housing NZ won’t give her a housing assessment until July 12th.
The pregnant mum who was without stable accommodation two days before her due date has now given birth and is close to getting a home.
Maariri Pakuria, 20, was approved for a state house on Tuesday.
She was meant to meet an emergency housing provider today. However, Pakuria gave birthto her daughter at 10am yesterday.
The Ministry of Social Development's Eru Lyndon said they would work with Pakuria to find her a home when she was ready.
In the meantime Pakuria will return to her emergency accommodation in Manurewa once she gets out of hospital.
