Native bird study in New Plymouth

Conservation Department bird specialists are to go door-knocking in Taranaki in a bid to find out more about two of New Zealand's most recognisable native birds.

From next Monday researchers will be calling on landowners within a 30km radius of New Plymouth to learn more about tui and kereru (native wood pigeon).

The three-month survey is part of a three-year DoC study into the birds' behaviour and habitat preferences.
