Names of Taupiri road crash victims released

Police have named two men who died when their cars crashed on Gordonton Rd near Taupiri yesterday as Jacob Gregory Te Awhitu, 20, of Hamilton and Stephen Thomas Harvey, 48, also of Hamilton.

Police said a car heading south towards Taupiri hit a car heading north towards Hamilton on Gordonton Road about 5.40am. Both cars landed on their roofs in the north-bound lane.

Early investigations showed one car crossed the centre line into the path of the other car. Police said their investigation was continuing.
