Multiple people have been injured and a road blocked after a three-car crash on State Highway 29 in Tauriko.
A St John spokeswoman told the Bay of Plenty Times they were called at 3.18pm.
Three ambulance crews were dispatched and three people were transported to Tauranga Hospital via road.
Two people were in a serious condition and one person was in a moderate condition
A fourth person was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A police spokeswoman said motorists were asked to avoid the area while the lanes were blocked.
Traffic management was put in place at 4pm.
The crash happened between SH29a and Cambridge Rd.
She said police were notified at 3.17pm.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokeswoman said no people had been trapped but people were still in the vehicles when they arrived.
They sent two appliances to the crash, she said.
