Smoke can be seen billowing up Maungarei as firefighters battle a scrub blaze in Mt Wellington.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand confirmed seven crews are in attendance at a vegetation fire on the western side of the mountain.
Police are conducting initial area inquiries after being informed of the fire
