Motorist killed as car and bus collide in Waikanae on the Kapiti Coast

A motorist has been killed in a crash involving a car and bus in Waikanae this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Te Moana Rd about 4.30pm.

Police confirmed the driver of the car, who was the sole occupant of that vehicle, has died at the scene.

No one else has been injured in the crash.

The road has been closed off between the Te Moana Rd on-ramp and Park Ave and diversions have been put in place as emergency crews work at the scene.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area or expect delays.

Authorities are still working to inform next of kin.
