Motorcyclist who died in Motueka crash named

The police have released the name of the motorcyclist who died in Motueka yesterday.

He was 19-year-old Thomas Andrew Armit of Motueka.

Police have extended their sympathies to Mr Armit's family at this tragic time.

Emergency services were called around 5:50am when a car and motorcycle collided at the intersection of Thorp St and Glenaven Drive.

Police inquiries are continuing in relation to the crash.

The death follows one of the grimmest periods on New Zealand roads, claiming the lives of nine people and bringing the road toll to 292 for 2017. This is up 41 people on the same time last year.
