The motorcyclist killed in a crash near Puhoi yesterday was David Francis Cruickshank, 53, of Wellsford.

Cruickshank, travelling north from Puhoi, was killed when his bike collided head-on with a southbound car on State Highway 1 about 6.30pm yesterday.

Four occupants from the car, including a child, were treated for minor to moderate injuries.

State Highway 1 was closed between Puhoi and Woodcocks Rd for several hours last night.

Cruickshank's death has been referred to the coroner.
