Motorcyclist killed in Northland crash named

Police today named a motorcyclist killed in a crash in Northland on Friday.

He was Mark Raymond Smith, a linesman of Kerikeri.

The motorcycle the 33-year-old was riding collided with a Toyota 4WD vehicle at an intersection near Russell in the Bay of Islands, about midday, police said.

Mr Smith was flown to Whangarei Hospital, but died shortly after.

The woman driving the 4WD received minor scratches.

Speed appeared to be a factor in the crash, police said.
