Motorcyclist killed in crash named

Police have named the 53-year-old Tauranga motorcyclist who died following a collision in the Bay of Plenty this week.

He was Nelson Bruce Commerer, who was riding a Suzuki motor bike on Oropi Road, when he collided on a bend with a Nissan utility travelling in the opposite direction about 5.30pm on Tuesday.

Western Bay of Plenty Senior Sergeant Ian Campion said the sole occupant of the utility suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by St Johns Ambulance staff.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
