A motorcyclist was injured after apparently skidding in heavy rain as he crossed Auckland's Harbour Bridge during last night's stormy weather.
The man, aged in his 20s, fell from the motorbike in the downpour and his bike hit the median barrier shortly before 4.20pm, the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter said.
He was taken by police to the bridge headquarters and treated by the rescue chopper's rapid response team.
"We treated him for some minor injuries and administered pain relief until the St John Ambulance unit arrived to transport him to hospital," the rescue chopper said.
"He was in a moderate condition."
It was believed the bike had slipped in the heavy rain.
The crash blocked a northbound lane on the Harbour Bridge, and was one of a number of minor crashes and breakdowns across the city's motorway network during the burst of stormy weather which lashed the region from around 3pm.
