An Auckland motorcycle repair shop owner is shaken after a motorbike was stolen from in front of his shop in a “brazen” daylight robbery on Tuesday.
In a one-minute-long video, the thief was seen walking between five motorcycles parked in front of the business, touching theseats and testing the handles.
He then jumped on one bike, starting it and driving it out of the carpark and on to the road.
The shop owner, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Herald once the motorbikes were repaired, the staff parked them in front of the store ready to be picked up by owners.
“We heard a sound from him riding off and then we ran out to see. We saw him kicking off and we couldn’t even stop him because it was too late.

“We told [the owner] the bike was stolen and we are working to recover the bike with police and social media. I have no clue what to do. I’m not sure what is going to happen next.”
He said this had not happened before in the 10 years since he opened the business.
“We didn’t even think someone could be so brazen,” he said.
