A man has died after losing control of his motorcycle in New Plymouth.

The crash happened about 9pm yesterday and the rider was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

He died from his injuries.

The man's name would not be released until his family were notified, police said.

Central District police reminded drivers to maintain awareness of road conditions, especially in wet conditions.
