Mother keeps vigil for son

The mother of a 22-year-old man fighting for his life after a brawl at a New Lynn 21st birthday party is keeping a 24-hour vigil at his bedside.

Leighton Wayne Taylor, 22, has been in a medically-induced coma since he was taken to Auckland Hospital early on Sunday morning.

He suffered severe brain injuries when he was bashed in a fight between partygoers and gatecrashers.
