Mother convicted over daughter's truancy

The mother of a teenage girl who has missed 39 days of school this year has been prosecuted for truancy.

Robyn Elizabeth Buchanan, 37, a homemaker, was convicted in the Gore District Court of failing to ensure her daughter attended Gore High School between January 31 and June 27.

Judge Noel Walsh said Buchanan had thumbed her nose at the law.
