Mother and son safe from alleged armed stalker

A mother and her young son have been located safe and well after a man allegedly went looking for her armed with a gun.

There were fears for the safety of Kyrstin Wichman and her 5-year-old son after Jonathan Joshua Antipas, 24, allegedly went to a property in Upper Hutt with a firearm trying to find her yesterday.

She was not at the address and then disappeared.

Police had fears for her safety due to Antipas' alleged agitated state and access to firearms.

Hutt Valley police said today Ms Wichman and her son had been located safe and well but they were still searching for Antipas.

"We want to thank the public and the media for their assistance in locating them ... the 5-year-old boy is being cared for by family members," Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton said.

While a vehicle believed to have been driven by Antipas overnight had been found, police were still seeking him.
