Forecasts of bad weather have prompted the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to call off aerial spraying in West Auckland today against the painted apple moth.
The 10,000ha spraying operation will go ahead on the next fine day.
The ministry says that if the aerial operation is necessary tomorrow, the
first day of the school year for many children, there will be no spraying between 8am and 10am.
During term time it says spraying will not take place during lunch and morning and afternoon travelling times for schoolchildren.
Spraying opponents are to protest outside the Ministry of Education's offices in the city today.
Protest organiser Tim Tipene said concerned parents wanted the ministry to intervene and close schools on spraying days.
