Heavy rain overnight has caused a slip has closed State Highway 11 at Lemons Hill, between Kawakawa and Paihia.
The New Zealand Transport Agency has advised motorists to follow directions of emergency services as detours have been put in place through Kawakawa and Puketona.
The road at Lemons Hill was closed at 7.50am today.
There is flooding across the road at Bulls Gorge and at Pakaraka.
In the 24 hours to 7am today, Kaeo received 70.5mm of rain, Waitangi 70mm, Awaroa 67.5mm and Oakura Bay 52mm.
In Whangarei, there is surface flooding on Kaka St but the road is passable.
There is flooding on north bound lanes on Western Hills Dr near the Rust Ave intersection and across both lanes on Whareora Rd just past AH Reed.
The Hatea river is quite high around Riverside Dr but the tide is on it's way out.
There are currently no power outages in Whangarei and Kaipara but one house at Callaghan Rd in Maromaku is without electricity.
