More kiwi released at Lake Rotoiti

Two more kiwi have been released at Lake Rotoiti, in the Nelson Lakes National Park, to join seven others transferred there last weekend.

Department of Conservation spokesman Brian Paton said two great spotted kiwi were captured on Tuesday night from Gouland Downs in Kahurangi National Park and were released at Rotoiti on Wednesday night.

The birds were the last pair to be caught for the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project, which Mr Paton said was going exceptionally well.
