The man was convicted in 2004 for three acts of indecent assault and two acts of assault against his 14-year-old nephew.
He was sentenced to two years in jail and released in 2005 on an extended supervision order. The order could not be served because he disappeared, and was not found until August 2009.
The man dodged authorities by using a number of false names, before being arrested in South Auckland last month.
He has since appeared in the Auckland District Court on charges relating to a breach of the conditions of his release.
Last month a ministerial inquiry was launched to uncover how the man eluded the Teachers Council, police and Corrections to work in schools.
The man will next appear in court on April 5, when a lawyer representing two of the schools the man worked at will have a chance to address the court.
