Two alternatives - Beef Hill Road and Cow Hill Road - have also been floated. Maori equivalents have already been put out to pasture.
"Consultation with the local Iwi has been undertaken in the road naming process. Iwi representative Haahi Walker from Ngati Whatua o Kaipara has not given support for the use of Maori names," council says.
Ashton said he was "sort of under a bit of a non-disclosure agreement with the council on some issues with the subdivision" but did explain how the road came about.
"It's only a short road to service a rural subdivision that was done in exchange for bush and wetland planting to stop erosion on the farm," Ashton said.
