A senior Mongrel Mob member's body was found last night floating in a Ruatoria river.
The Gisborne man, whose name has yet to be released, was found floating face down in the Waiapu River.
Police said at this stage the death was not being treated as suspicious.
The
gang member was found by friends after he failed to return from a walk, police said.
His body was in such an isolated spot that police had to send a helicopter, accompanied by Search and Rescue personnel, to retrieve it.
His tangi was expected to be in Gisborne.
