A tramper last seen entering the Heaphy Track at the top of the South Island two weeks ago has been reported missing.
Andrew Ross White, 55, from Karamea stayed the previous night at Nirvana Backpackers in Takaka.
Mr White, who police say sometimes goes by the name Ross Andrews, purchasedtwo hut tickets for the Heaphy track and was dropped off at the start of the track at the Takaka end.
He was not well equipped and has not been heard from since, police said today.
They have concerns for his welfare and are now seeking sightings from the public.
Mr White is European, about 175cm tall, of thin build with grey hair and balding on top. He wears blue-framed glasses and was likely to be wearing a baseball cap.
