Missing Taupo man found dead

The body of missing Taupo man Charlie Pick was found shortly before midday today, police said.

Mr Pick, 65, disappeared as he walked home from a function on Sunday. He was last seen on Acacia Bay Road, near the Taupo motor camp, about 5.30pm.

Constable Mark Bond said Mr Pick's body was found on the edge of Lake Taupo, about 400 metres from where he was last seen.

Extra searchers were brought in from Whakatane, Taumarunui and Tokoroa to help in today's search.

Mr Pick's death has been referred to the coroner.
