Missing mother and daughter found safe

A mentally ill Christchurch woman, who disappeared with her eight-year-old daughter prompting a police search on Wednesday, has turned up safe and well.

Jonelle Churchman was last seen leaving Hillmorton Hospital in Christchurch about 4pm on Wednesday, and her daughter went missing a few hours later.

Detective Sergeant Will McIvor, of Hornby, said police were concerned for the safety of the pair.

However, Ms Churchman dropped her daughter off with her caregiver in the early hours of this morning, and checked herself back into hospital later today.
